Mediation allows parties to have a clear voice in working towards a mutually satisfactory outcome. It can also be attractive to parties who would like to resolve sensitive family issues without involving attorneys. On the other hand, clients are welcome to bring their attorneys to mediation.
Mediation is usually a cost-effective option, with the total expense of the process often being a fraction of the price compared to attorney and court fees.
By virtue of our practice, AMMC is especially experienced in working in areas related to children, families, and healthcare.
Our mediators are registered with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution and qualified to mediate general, civil, and domestic cases.
Formal mediation: If clients are able to reach a resolution in mediation, the signed documents will be sent to a judge, at which point it is considered legally binding. Failure to uphold an agreement signed in mediation could place a party in contempt of court.
Informal mediation often follows the same mediation process, however, the results are not sent to the courts. Informal mediation is most often used at AMMC to work through issues including co-parenting issues, parenting plans, living arrangements (including eviction), financial disputes, disagreements involving healthcare and/or eldercare.
